Meditation for Relaxation and Inspiration

November's topic – Beyond Pain

Pain can be a real pain in the #$%! :) It can feel consuming, taking over your thoughts, your energy and your happiness, in some occurrences, it can make you feel angry and hopeless and take away your will to live.

Stress, being tense and resisting the pain can make it  feel worse, that's why mindfulness and kindness is an effective solution.

During this session of Beyond Pain, Nat is going to show you ways that you can explore your pain and allow it to be part of your life. in a way that's gentle, compassionate and light-hearted. Allowing you to find a peace with your pain that you may not have thought possible and giving you a new lease on life so that you can live Beyond Pain.

Since 2015 Nat has been living with persistent, and often relentless pain following her cornea transplant and shingles virus attack around her eyes. Bright light, computer screens, and any up-close activities like housework, gardening and cooking all trigger the muscles around her eyes to tense up as they are trying to focus. It's like an old camera, where the lens has to constantly twist left and right to get a clear focus.

Most days she wakes up with pain around the top of her face and to be honest, the desire to stay in bed is there most mornings, but Nat realises that whether she's in bed or out of bed, the pain is still going to be there, so why waste the day when there are beautiful things that make her happy awaiting.

Since applying mindfulness techniques of compassion, loving kindness, acceptance and open awareness, plus one of her favourites - laughter - Nat is able to live a meaningful and fulfilling beyond pain.

She's learnt to balance her time and activities to incorporate the rest and healing that her body needs so that she can bounce out of bed and do the things she loves in each day.

Normall the 1st Sunday of the Month, but moved a week later this month due to my Buddhist Teacher coming to the Central Coast :)
