Hunt for 'healthy' chocolate
I must confess, I am a chocoholic, there is always chocolate in my house and every day I have at least one thing that is chocolately. Mmmm chocolate!
So when I made the decision to heavily reduce processed sugars and non-healthy fats, that impacted massively on my chocolate addiction. But I'm determined to have my healthy food as an integrated part of my lifestyle, so off to the health food store I went to see what chocolate options were available.
I have a severe nut allergy, so that took about 70% of the chocolate range away, and then I found this baby, Raw Cacao by Pana Chocolate. I couldn't wait to get home to try it!
I took my first bite and closed my eyes, I wanted to savour every tasty morsel of this decadent delight.
First thought .... it doesn't take like milk chocolate lol, no surprise there really, I mean it's made from coconut oil and not dairy milk and it has natural cacao instead of cocoa powder, so of course it's going to taste different.
I was pleasantly surprised, it actually satisfied my chocolate craving and tasted really good. As with all healthy 'chocolates' they are quite pricey, for $7 you get six squares of chocolates, so I only have two pieces at a time. I find two is satisfying enough anyway as they aren't as sugary as normal chocoate so I'm not craving more.
Final verdict: Delish and a good chocolate replacement :)
I am at peace with what is.
