Getting my life back - starting a morning routine

One thing I’ve learnt over time and through my coaching is that routine helps when our world seems to have turned upside down.

I decided to set up a morning routine again to get me out of bed at a reasonable time and to ensure I’m not wasting my time and am actually being productive. It doesn't sound like much, but when life is hard and your head feels all muddled then a simple routine can set up your focus and energy for the day.

Step 1 is my eye exercises. I’ve promised myself that I will do the palming exercise twice a day for three months, which will take me right to Christmas Day. So my alarm goes off at 6.30am and I do 15 minutes of guided palming.

Step 2 is to remember what’s important to me and what I want. So I sit up, put my glasses on and read my vision boards.

Step 3 is eye care. I clean both eyes with saline and put my eye drops in.

Step 4 is movement. If it’s a Friday or Sunday I’m off to yoga, otherwise a walk, or if I’ve slept in a bit then 10 minutes on the fit ball.

After this I’m feeling more rejuvenated and inspired and can get on with my day, even if that is back on the couch and resting. But mostly it’s getting out to work or working on my blog or study.

I am at peace with what is...
